Radial Shockwave Therapy for the Treatment of Chronic Pain & Discomfort
Bridgewater Chirorpactors, Dr. Brad McAdam & Dr. Brad McAdam Jr., provide Radial Shockwave Therapy also called Radio Pulse Therapy and Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), as an alternative to patients with chronic pain who have exhausted all other treatment avenues such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy, and is often a pre surgery option.
What is Radial Shockwave Therapy?
ESWT is the application of high-energy acoustic pulse which delivers thousands of high-speed impulses into the tissue of the affected area of the body. Each radial shockwave treatment works by incresaing the metabolic activity in the area of the pain or discomfort. It stimulates the reabsorbtion of irritative calcium deposits in tendons. In addition, each treatment stimulates the body’s natural healing process, thus reducing pain. Radial Shockwave Therapy has been proven to help relieve chronic pain associated with plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, shin splints, bursitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, frozen shoulder, back or neck pain, as well as hip or knee pain.
The Radial Shockwave Treatment Process
Radial Shockwave Therapy typically requires one treatment every week for four to six weeks in combination with cold laser therapy and Active Release Technique® (ART®) for optimal results. Treatment is carried out by passing over the injured area with the shockwave applicator. The treatments last approximately five minutes and may be slightly uncomfortable, but are well tolerated by everyone. Most patients feel results after the first treatment session.
