Treatment and Therapy

Manipulation (Adjustment)
Manipulation is a noninvasive hands-on method of treatment. Manipulation puts joints through their full range of motion to increase mobility, to correct biomechanical dysfunctions, and to alleviate fixations.

Active Release Technique
ART® is a state-of-the-art treatment that treats soft tissue conditions (problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves.) This technique specializes in the detection and release of peripheral nerve entrapment and soft tissue adhesions The goal is to restore optimal texture, motion and function of the soft tissue and release any entrapped nerves or blood vessels. This is accomplished by removing adhesions throughout the body with precise direct pressure and tensions.

Electric Muscle Stimulation
EMS is the use of an electrical current to decrease pain and increase range of motion. The effect of the current is to encourage the body’s natural pain-controlling mechanisms by either blocking a pain nerve’s signal or by releasing opiates (endorphins, similar to those in a “runner’s high”.)

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is the application of sound waves to tissues to increase the healing process. The treatment decreases pain, increases flexibility, and speeds the healing process.

Low Level Laser Light Therapy
Light therapy penetrates the skin without heat, damage to the skin, and or side effects. The laser light waves direct biostimulative light energy to the body’s cells which the cells convert into chemical energy to promote natural healing and pain relief. This treatment supplies vital oxygen and energy to every cell producing cellular regeneration. The result is tissue repair, pain reduction, and accelerated resolution of inflammation.

Moist Heat Therapy
Heat application helps relax tight muscles and increases blood flow and nutrition to the area, which can help speed healing once the inflammation has subsided. It also helps muscles and tendons respond better to being stretched and exercised. This treatment should feel like gentle warmth, never hot or burning.

Cold Therapy
Ice is often applied to a new injury to decrease pain, muscle spasms, and swelling. Ice is the safest and most effective way of treating sprains, strains, muscle spasms, and bruises. Ice is prescribed for a wide range of muscle and joint complaints.
